Subject: Trial Reviews
In an on-going effort to improve the quality of representation provided by Indigent Defense Panel (IDP) Attorneys, more complete trial court information is being sought. Therefore, in all cases assigned for trial, whether completed or not, the IDP Trial Review Form will be submitted to the trial court judge for an evaluation.
To start this process, all IDP Attorneys are required to complete items 1 through 6 of the IDP Trial Review form and send it as an E-mail attachment to Cheyenne Azevedo at: cazevedo@sacbar.org, The electronic link to the form and instructions for downloading and e-mailing the form as an attachment is located at the bottom of this page. However, if the MS-Word or Adobe Acrobat versions of the form are not compatible with your technology, you may obtain a hardcopy of the form from either the IDP or CCD Offices, type in the information, and mail it to Ms. Azevedo at: 901 H Street, Suite 101, Sacramento, CA 95814.
Conflict Criminal Defenders (CCD) will suspend processing of your final bill until they receive proof that Ms. Azevedo has been notified of your trial assignment and received the form. You will, therefore, need to attach a copy of the form and a copy of the e-mail notification sent to Ms. Azevedo, to your final bill. You should also keep one copy for your records. Ms. Azevedo will provide notification to CCD for all forms submitted via mail.
No judicial input can be obtained on a case assigned for trial until the case is dismissed, settled, the client is acquitted, trial results in mistrial or after sentencing. Therefore, for administrative convenience, would you please indicate in your cover E-mail whether the judge can comment now, or in the case of a conviction, when the sentencing is scheduled? This will help IDP know when to send the electronic IDP Trial Review Form to your trial court judge.
Thank you in advance for your help.
