As you may be aware, due to the current budget crisis, Conflict Criminal Defenders is facing a large budget reduction for the Fiscal Year beginning July 1, 2003. In light of this problem, we are forced to maximize our dollars for the current fiscal year, when we have the money, and minimize costs being carried over into the new year, when we won't have it. Any prior year costs paid in 03-04, will further reduce our available dollars in 03-04.

In that regard, we are requiring that by 5 pm, June 10, 2003, you submit claims for all CCD cases, open or closed, that include services you provided on the case, through May 31, 2003. If on May 31, 2003, you accept a case and spend 1 hour reviewing the file, you must submit a claim for those services by June 10th.

After June 10, 2003, any claim received that includes services provided prior to June 1, 2003 will be adjusted to reflect only services performed on or after June 1, 2003. In other words, we will not be able to pay for those services.
